Default Is Government-authorized Slavery a Relevant 'Crime Against Humanity'?

one might identify an act of slavery as a war crime, if it is authorized/enforced by a national government. in such a context, a national government may perpetrate a 'crime against humanity' as well. i consider the slavery of an ethnicity group to be an overt act of open war when perpetrated by a nation. for example, when germany enslaved the jews in labor camps.

throughout ancient history, a race or population of people were often enslaved as a result of losing a war. the conquering nation would often enslave the conquered nation. eventually, slavers decided it might be more profitable to market slaves without having to fight a war first. but again, slavery was more commonly an aftermath of war from ancient times when propagated in an ethnic context.

the word 'nation' is largely a legal term to partially represent land boundaries of a particular majority ethnicity group within a specific region. perhaps less so within the US itself, but such is true throughout most of the rest of the world. throughout history, nations have 'usually' originated from tribes, and tribes have originated from families. nations are most often 'ethnicity-specific'.

what are your thoughts/feelings?

What about the “slavery” of BIG government? What about it’s enslavement of it’s poor to a mother/daddy reliance on government for survival and the stolen incentive to better one’s self? What about the BIG government slavery of our most productive enslaved to the financial support of the socialist redistribution vote buying scam?

Slavery never ends, it simply finds new tactics and employs them through government.

Prison labor is a form of slavery and it undermines the paid workers by undercutting wages.

Living above one's means is also a form of slavery. Anyone who makes less that $50,000 a year is living above their means because the cost of living is so high. The poverty line is set to low so families who truly need help (lower working classes) cannot get any assistance and usually end up going hungry or without electricity or clothing. I have been there.

what if it costs $50,000 per year to incarcerate each prison inmate? should prison inmates be restricted from working?

Yes and no. There are many projects that rely on volunteer work (building playgrounds, beautification of public property) which can use prison labor.

No, if prison is too much of a cost burden on tax payers the first thing we should do is re-evalutae the laws that send so many (disaportionate amounts) of blacks and latins to prison.

Obviously muder and rape should be offenses that have stiff penalties...but what about drug related crimes?

If a person is found to have killed someone by selling them a drug that kills them (not including cases of overdosage), then they could be charged with murder.

Selling drugs should not be an imprisonable crime unless the monetary intake is above $100,000 per year. The idea is to go after the big fish and leave the petty dealers alone unless they commit other crimes.

Basically, the prisons are filled with petty theives, petty dealers and drug users. The king fish are left untouched.

what if a drug dealer sells a potentially lethal dosage to someone for under $100-1000?

Not all drugs kill. Not all dosages of drugs kill. It is different for every person.

I feel that it is our inalienable right to do drugs or commit suicide (both are illegal and yet involve a choice with our own bodies governed by self-righteous fanatics). The same argument can be made for prostitution and abortion.

Selling a gun, a knife, or even model glue is selling a potential weapon that can be used to kill oneself or others. Are the shopkeepers and dealers responsible? Or is the individual responsible? Or are there always factors that determine responsibility (such as selling a gun to someone who is clearly insane, or a straight razor to a very depressed person-knowing what they will do).

Selling a drug that you know is lethal (laced with poison) makes the dealer culpable. Selling LSD, Cocaine, Pot and even Heroine does not make the dealer culpable legally and shouldn't.
