As a person who loves democratic Secular Humanism (see SecularHumanism.org for a positive alternative to mysticism) I don’t’ believe in “Satan”, but more and more people are starting to ponder the question “did someone like him just invent Islam?” Or did Mohammad himself possibly invent Islam to increase his own sexual, political and economic power? Please tell us what YOU think.


1. Mohammad admitted that some of what he originally preached was actually from “Satan”.
He later retracted those messages when it didn’t suit him. Google "The Satanic Verses".

2. Kill those who leave the cult.
(Koran chapter 4:89-90 justifies killing, also Bukhari Volume 9, Book 84, Number 57.)

3. Sex with kids is good.
Sure sounds like something ”Satan” would do. Mohammad is “the perfect example of human behavior”, and he had sex with a 9 year old Aisha, when he was 56, and no Muslims today seems willing to condemn Mohammad for having sex with a kid (Ahadith Sahih Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 58, Number 236 ).

4. Slaughter gays.

5. Stone to death people who have sex outside of marriage.
(Sahih Bukhari Volume 2, Book 23, Number 413). Some Muslim countries do this even today.

6. Kill people who make fun of Mohammad.
One was an incredibly old man, and one was a female poet, who was tortured to death in front of her children. Many Muslims want to do this even today ("Teddy Bear" incident, "Motoon" incident, etc.)

7. You can rape captives and then sell them into slavery.
Sure sounds like something ”Satan” would do.

8. Beat your (up to 4) wives.
(Quran 4:34). Google for videos of Islamic clerics approving of wife beating.

9. Women are deficient intellectually and spiritually.
(Bukhari Volume 1, Book 6, Number 301).

10. Kill for me and get 72 virgins.

11. Torture people to death.
”Satan” for sure. Mohammad drove nails into and gouged out the eyes of people from the ‘Urayna Tribe. He also cut off their opposite legs and arms, and left them to die. Also see Tabari VIII:122/Ishaq:515.

12. Rape and Ransom captives.

13. Make a woman’s testimony only worth HALF of a man’s in court (Quran 2:282).

Pretty much. But not quite.

Muhammed was illiterate. This leads me to believe that he did not write the Qu'uran. Someone else did, likely his followers... possibly believing themselves under his influence.

So it has an initial "prophet" figure who started the movement (much like Christianity) then it had to go through a period of being written and canonized (much like Christianity) in which it became more the creation of a group of followers.

What kind of person would believe that god would actually pick an illiterate (an uneducated, for that matter) person to give the greatest (and "final"!) message of all time to!? Insane, really.

Unless that person was just SO INCREDIBLY great that god could overlook the fact that this person couldn't even write god's message down for future generations. But if that person is a torturer, slave-trader, pedophile, gay-hater, misogynist, (google all those with "Mohammad") etc., then I'm sure that would preclude god from picking that person.

Maybe that makes two of us.

I hereby challenge anybody reading this to find those 13 items in the "texts" of democratic Secular Humanism. For example in “A Secular Humanist Declaration”, at http://www.secularhumanism.org/index...ge=declaration

I believe that religion is man made to (1)grab power, (2)control people & (3) get rich using the unknown against people.

But for further examples look at the wars started because of differences in religious belief - Groups that believe in the same God but differ in how to worship Him will kill each other.

People justifying ignorant behavior based on hatred and fear because of religious teaching.

etc. so on and so forth
