Your post is so full of errant stereotypes I am not sure where to begin.
First of all racial issues are not in the top 20 issues that white southerners are concerned about! You seem to be far more obessed about it than most southern whites.

I can't speak for all southern whites anymore than you, I hope, can speak for Southern blacks. But this is why I vote Republican:

The Republican Party does not have Superdelegates who reserve the right to throw away my vote in the primary if they don't like who I chose. The Democratic Party does.

The Republican Party does not pretend to be something its not. The Democratic Party does repeatedly! The Democrats claim to be for the "little man" but will not even let his vote in their primary stand on its own. They claim to be looking out for working Americans, but continually prove otherwise! They are all about building massive government run and forced charities and putting their cronies in charge of them drawing large salaries. A Democratic Party President (the last one actually) signed NAFTA into law and gave China most favored nation trading status which detroyed the job base for factory workers in the U.S..

The Republican Party is more Pro-Life, although not 100% (no party is).

The Republican Party has not sold out to Hollywood's brand of morality (although both parties have their share of morally corrupt individuals within)!

The Republican Party acknowledges the value that true families and true marriages bring to society! Not transgendered, same sex adopted parents, or polygamist sect type deviant behavior that does nothing to benefit society.

The Republican Party acknowledges that we have a great nation and that we have done great things both domestically and in foreign affairs and they honor the sacrifices our nation's military personnel have made to enable us to build this great nation! The Democrats praise them one minute, and spit on them the next!

There are other reasons but these are some of the biggest ones. If you want to beleive that we vote Republican out of racism then think what you will, but you could not be more wrong!

I live in North Mississippi! My wife is in sales and called on a new business owner, who happens to be a black man, last Year in Columbus Mississippi who had just moved there from Chicago! He said the racism in Chicago is what drove him out, but he has experienced none of it in Columbus Mississippi!

The truth is not what your television talking heads spew at you every night at 6:00pm!

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 100,266 people, 39,239 households, and 19,344 families residing in the city. The population density was 851.5 people per square mile (328.8/km²). There were 41,633 housing units at an average density of 353.6/sq mi (136.5/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 64.71% White, 27.37% Black or African American, 0.21% Native American, 3.15% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 3.11% from other races, and 1.41% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 6.39% of the population.

There were 39,239 households out of which 22.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 32.3% were married couples living together, 13.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 50.7% were non-families. 29.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.35 and the average family size was 2.95.

In the city the population was spread out with 17.8% under the age of 18, 31.6% from 18 to 24, 27.3% from 25 to 44, 15.3% from 45 to 64, and 8.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 25 years. For every 100 females there were 95.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.4 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $28,118, and the median income for a family was $41,407. Males had a median income of $30,359 versus $23,039 for females. The per capita income for the balance was $17,103. About 15.0% of families and 28.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 25.2% of those under age 18 and 13.5% of those age 65 or over.


I'm not saying that there aren't racists in my area, I'm sure that there has to be some, but they are a very tiny minority. Also, Athens-Clarke county tends to vote Democratic because of the university, but the surrounding areas are all Republican and just as non-racist.

I don't have to listen to any talking heads I grew up in the South and still live in the South.

Also saying there are no racist in Mississippi is like saying there is no sunshine in Florida.
