That's just about all they do. Acknowledge it and talk a great deal about "familie values". I could understand voting GOP if they actually valued families by advancing a health care system that puts people before profits, tabled legislation to protect them from predatory lenders and other finacial schemes that often ruin families and in general put forth positions that favor families over corporations.

So, in your opinion has the GOP performed in the past on whatever you mean by "familie values" to your satisfaction?

I can't comment on "famalie" values because I don't know what a "famalie is or what its values are. I can say that Republicans want to protect the most innovative and effective health care system on earth by not turning it into Social Security II, The disastrous sequel! Do Republicans perfectly represent everything I beleive they should on the front of protecting familes? No, but they do a far better job than Democrats do. In fact, what have Democrats done for families at all in the past two Decades?

I do not support placing corporation values over family values, but I am not myopic like many of you are! I realize that corporations provide the jobs that allow most families to exist! Corporations are what all of our retirement plans are invested in, and if they fail or flounder families suffer and retirement plans go up in smoke!

I take it your retirement wasn't wiped out by Enron. Probably have your money with Bears Stern and the feds. bailed 'em out. SS has not defaulted on a single check since the program was created. On the other hand, the news is full of stories where private health insurance comp. denied legitimate claims or refused to pay for treatments. All in all it is much more likely of a company going belly up than a nation.

When someone goes to great lengths like this to deny something then there is usually something wrong.

Social security pays out a maximum of $13,000 per year. Can you live on that at retirement?

most people's retirements are in mutual funds invested in hundreds of different companies. So you would dismiss the entire corporate world because of a few bad apples! With that logic the Democratic Party should have been destroyed years ago! Trafficant, Torricelli, Condit, Clinton, Ted Kennedy, etc,...

Sorry, but my personal experience isn't a denial of anything, and I never said there weren't racists in the South, just that I had never met one here. When I went to Boston for a couple of years, I did meet some, so I know what a racist is.

And yes, I do leave my house, and thanks for the neg rep comment. If you can't handle something that challenges your preconceived notions such as "the South is full of racists" then I suggest you leave this forum and go hang out with people who support all of those false assertions.

WOW! This guy is clueless! The south is the most patriotic part of the US. The South gives up more people for the military than any other part of the United States. Southeners believe in working hard and being accountable for their actions. In other words they dont like handouts from the federal goverment and they dont like paying for handouts for others with their hard earned money. Southeners, also love their guns! We are also mostly made up of conservative small towns where we actually work for a living (not in a office) and dont appriciate thoes who are subsidised for not working at all. Also we are more polite to each other and if you give us your word we expect you to keep it. Of course thats apposed to the big liberal cities where people dont even talk to each other and yes, our cities in the South all vote democrat. The south still carries the "Dont Tread On Me" mentality. We consider ourselves largly self dependant and hate big goverment! We would rather be held accountable for our actions and suffer, as opposed to the goverment bailing us out of our self made troubles. Its an honor thing and a family values thing. Thats why we vote republican!
