Default Abortion/Death Penalty compromise

As a stonch conservative and pro-lifer I hate abortion and want to make it illegal while many people feel the death penalty should be illegal. So how about a deal between the two, we outlaw them both. I'd be willing to outlaw the death penalty if abortion is outlawed.

Currently both are legal (to varying degrees in various places).
Isn't that a compromise?

No thanks. Abortion will never be completely illegal in this country and the supremes just rejected adding child rape as a death penalty crime. I've got nothing to gain from your deal.

Yeah, but then pro-death and anti-life people would be mad.

Oh, and things simply don't magically work that way. You are naively suggesting that Pro-Lifers and Anti-Death-Penaltiers are mutually exclusive groups; and that said compromise would somehow--poof!--make everyone happy. And I thought Obama-ites drank too much of the koolaid...

A coalition of strong pro-lifers and anti-death penalty people is a smaller coalition than a coalition of pro-choice and pro-death penalty people.

If you're going to anger a coalition of that sort... at least pick the smaller one.

I hate the death penalty and want it banned, but I want abortion kept legal.

Why not just keep them both legal?

Outlawing abortion will result in the deaths of many young women - in essence, another death penalty of sorts.

Better to fund scientific research for better birth control or bringing fetuses to term outside of the womb.

No sane person actually supports preventing a women from having an abortion if her own life is in danger. Those who are anti-abortion usually would allow exceptions in cases like those.
