I can tell you where to park it, but that would be rude.

No Prius here, but I do have a highly efficient vehicle that your Hummer couldn't come close to catching.

Whaler: I don't know if you missed this or if you are willfully choosing to ignore it:

Democrats say don't drill, so Then What?

Why don't you take your thread back on-topic and tell us why it is imperative that we drill now.

Ok...so get on with it! The democrats are just sitting around doing nothing about this, except for submitting a lot of lip service.

Having to first export our oil to then import it seems like a ridiculous waste of money and resources that does nothing but drain our oil reserves while simultaneously undercutting the benefit of tapping them.
Ok...fine....so what are the democrats doing about it?

Mass transit systems become more feasible and therefore more likely, which leads to our oil lasting longer.
Ok, so what is congress doing about this? All you give are "ideas."

Quote:
As that fact starts to collide with the price of oil, people are going to choose to live closer to their jobs, make choices that are inherently more efficient through simple economics.
So your solution is forcing people to move closer to their jobs. Nevermind if they live in the house their family has owned for generations. Nevermind the fact that if they acquire new jobs, that would (according to your plan) force them to move again.

Once true environmentalism crosses the threshold into common sense, everyone will wonder what the hell they were doing commuting an hour back and forth to work.
"True environmentalism" and "common sense" are oxymorons.
Quote:
Waste of time, waste of resources, waste of diplomacy, waste of war. Transportation policy begets energy policy begets foreign policy.
Again...force is your answer? Force citizens to adapt? Whatever happened to "freedom?"

Quote:
What makes you think that private oil companies are going to cut the US any slack on the price when they can get a premium per-barrel price from other consumer countries? The oil companies exist to make a profit; they will sell the oil for as much as they can get for it. Unless you are recommending that we either wholly or partially nationalize the oil companies or the mineral rights so that the government controls the price...
Sounds like socialism to me, and maybe that's what you're after.
I agree that oil companies should be left to their own freedoms. However, oppressive taxation prohibits their ability to research alt-fuels, build refineries, expand their crude exploration and extraction.
Quote:
Let market forces do their work, don't meddle with stuff until we are ready to deal with it. Choose a time when we can maximize the benefits of our resources rather than squandering our resources on something as errant as paying more money to uselessly commute.
Now we're back to "talky talky talky" and no "doing."

No wonder the democratically-controlled congress is now down to 9% approval (lowest all-time).

The cry to "do something now!!!" is how we got into Iraq, isn't it? And how we got the "economic stimulus package," TSA, etc...

Yes, but if American citizens are resoundingly calling on congress to quit with the lip service, and actually DO something, where do you draw the line?

If you disagree with the "do something now" concept, then how long is "too long?"

You are so right! We are so much better of doing nothing at all, like we did while AQ was planning 911.

BRILLIANT!

So lets have it Democrats, what is your solution? Play kissy kissy with arab nations in the middle east? What is your solution if you don't like the drilling idea?
1996 daily oil demand was 40 million barrels per day
2002 daily oil demand was 74 million barrels per day
2008 daily oil demand is 87 million barrels per day

1996 Clinton/Gore state that drilling in ANWR would have no effect on gas prices for ten(10) years. uhhh gee Billy guess what?

Before the last election Pelosi and Reid/ Demo Crew tell the AMerican People that they have an Energy Plan. Nice plan! What makes you vote for the current bag of political hacks?

Oil history lesson from Carter on, take note of the prices as they come up on the screen and get past the intro by Mr.Beck.
