Default Does Anything Democrats Say Really Matter now?

For a decade now they have done nothing but cry about ideas others put out there! They offer no practical solutions to any of the problems we face, only criticism of every offered solution. Where will we be if we elect a Democrat President with this M.O.? Our only hope for accomplishing anything would be the same thing that saved Slick Willie's presidency, a Republican Congress!

You have to look at the democrats platform in order to discuss it.

You haven't even done that.

My question remains, does it matter what they say? Obama has gone both ways on all of the issues that Democrats consider important, so which time should we consider the "Real" position?

The Democratic party is an umbrella party, so they represent many different positions that their individuals hold. NoBama himself should stick to clearly defined positions; of course, he doesn't do so because he needs to appeal to many of these diverse voters in the party.

However, I would argue that we should listen to what Democrats have to say, if only because a second voice in a two-party system is what keeps our government honest. Even if the Democrats have been fumbling that role for years now.

The Democrats have plenty of what they call "solutions" for most problems; energy is an exception.

Their solutions are just worse than the problems most of the time.

But back to my original point, Democrats have, of late, been devoid of actual practical alternatives. Thery only offer pure dissention. Thats is just not helpful!

I am most pissed at the Democratic Party because it has failed to provide an alternative option on issues! They have become so politically conscious that they will not take a definitive stand on anything for fear it may go wrong and they will be blamed. That position makes them completely ineffective and useless.

Well that makes the Democratic Party a strange brew then doesn't it! A bunch of people united by their opposition to each other. A better recipe for an ineffective party could not be devised!

I agree with all of that. No wonder our Democratic Congress has single-digit approval ratings. They're a bunch of stiffs. Eventually, someone with a backbone needs to become a Democrat...right?

Well...that's kind of how both parties are. On the Republican side of things, you have libertarians--fiscally conservative, socially liberal--who clash strongly with right-wing religious neo-cons who are fiscally irresponsible and socially conservative. However, the Republican party hasn't been as chicken-(*)(*)(*)(*) annoying as the Democrats have been for, say, the last 8 years.

One MAJOR distinction, Republicans actually compromise and take a stand on issues! They actually formulate a plan and act on it. Its wrong sometimes, but nothing ventured nothing gained! It is far far better than complete inaction and infighting like the Democrats have!
