Minimum wage was established in the early 20th century, and was a contributing factor to The Great Depression. I wish minimum wage was never put in place. The real wage for people essentially stayed the same prior the implementation of minimum wage.

Minimum Wage Maximizes Teen Jobless Rate

Posted by Ryan Young

The Washington Post has a story today about the difficulty young people are having finding summer jobs. Their unemployment rate is over 18%, compared with only 5.5% for the general population.

Nowhere in the article’s 825 words is the most likely culprit mentioned — the recent minimum wage increase, which affects young people more than any other age group.

When something costs more, people buy less of it. Raising the minimum wage makes it more expensive to hire workers. Ergo, fewer of them are hired.

Supply and demand have a funny way of working and destroying many liberal economic and political theories.

Yes indeed. I remember when the Democrats decided to tax the rich who were buying yachts. "We'll get those rich yacht owners and teach them!" So what happened? The rich just stopped buying yachts. And the middle class workers who were manufacturing the yachts all got laid off. Several of them went to Washington, DC and they actually (I know it's a miracle) got them to repeal that tax increase.

The liberals/collectivist statists live in a fantasy world where they think they can make everyone more equal by stealing from some to give to others. But it just doesn't work.

Is America perfect? Go ask all those unemployed people in your country how hard it is for them to find a job. Go ask all those people living in poverty how hard it is for them to put food on the table. Go and tell those people are they are stupid - I am sure they'll appriciate it.

You seem to think you are smart because you are earning a ton of money. You could be the richest person on earth, doesn't mean you have a brain.
