There is a large difference between the two.
Do you favor a quick exit leaving Iraq to fend for themselves? A phased withdrawal that would have us leave over a longer period but leaves them a certain amount of security?
Would you do something else?

I would have to try and protect the soverignty of their borders in some way so that others don't come in and make a worse mess then we have.

What would you do?
McCain said we "could" be there 100 years. Please be honest here!
We have been in Japan and Germany many many years. McCain meant we would have a presence much like we do there. Not such a bad idea given how unpredictable and volatile that region is!

Well said (especially the quoted part at the end).

So what I would do is knock down that ridiculous embassy. I would get rid of all our bases. And I would walk out. Just like we walked in.

i would stay as long as needed. right now we have troops all over the middle east and i would keep it that way until iran decides to either stop their nuclear intentions or war breaks out. right now weh have troops on two sides of iran so they would have to split their troops in two in order to fight us which would give us an advantage.

The embassy in London, too? Paris? Manila?

Just get rid of them all, huh?

Appeal to the UN. Explain that we will pull all troops and all corporations but the UN must send in nation builders and construction projects should go to companies in the region.

We have to do more than just leave, we need to atone for our sins and do whatever is necessary to make Iraq our ally. Why? Because we don't want 100 future Osama bin Ladens running around. We need to show that America actually cares.

Perhaps we should include the conviction of BUsh, Cheney, Rumsfeld and so on. Perhaps we should allow companies like Blackwater to be sued.

Makedde, please read "Imperial life in the Emerald City" by Rajiv Chandrasekaran.

This book will not only fill you in on what happened in Iraq since the invasion. but, you will come to realize that we have, in fact, assisted them in rebuilding their country, for many years now.

I think it is time to leave. If it isn't fixed by now we aren't doing them favors by staying.

But, really makedde, I strongly suggest this book, it is a great read.

A phased withdrawal that would have us leave over a longer period but leaves them a certain amount of security sounds like a good plan to me.
