Flags and flag pins are very important to a segment of the American public. It's like in old cowboy movies where the good guy always wore the white hat. You could tell right off who the good guy was. Made things easy for folk who need things easy.

So you oppose disrespecting the American flag?
OK, we will have to take back your Democrat card for that one!

The flag is just a symbol that sets us apart from everyone else. I don't see the need for it. I can't see flying it or even owning one. It makes no statement to me that a person is patriotic.

A flag in my eyes represents division. We as people should be all about trying to knock down the walls that divide us from each other. Instead we hang flags and say how amerikan we are.

Enlighten me genius, what is the flag for?
Personally I'd rather embrace the flesh and blood that the flag symbolizes and not the symbol.

Read the article again and how the flag can be used as a way to manipulate people.

The flag doesn't represent the actions of any one man, group of men, or the actions of any nation at a specific point in time. it represents a nation and its founding principles. So disrepect the flag and you disrespect the nation and its founding principles!!!

Why is this so hard for you to understand?

Absolutely! I can't put it any better than this! (instead of making it into a competition to show who is MORE patriotic.)

The flag can be used in many many ways, that does nothing to change the fact that it is a symbol that represents our nation and its founding principles.
Disrespecting the flag is disrespecting the nation, not some small group of twits trying to misuse it!!!!!

That's a myth. Disrespecting a piece of cloth does not equal disrespecting a person unless you choose to make it that way.

Why is everything in this generation viewed in terms of what message you are sending to someone else? What if I fly the flag just because I love the country and I see it as my own personal show of respect for her?
Everything does not revolve around what message you are trying to send to someone else! Maybe I am not sending any message, just demonstrating respect for my country! In case you haven't noticed, I usually don't give two rats asses what anyone else thinks about me!!

It is disrespecting a nation and its principles, Reading comprehension classes may be in order.
