Everything does not revolve around what message you are trying tos end to someone else! Maybe I am not sending any message, just demonstrating respect for my country!
That's nothing wrong with that, but having a debate that not wearing a flag lapel makes someone less patriotic is the key. And if a politician stampeeds you to war by waving the flag, patriotisim is to say, "hey wait a minute, why are we going to war again?"

Been a democrat all my life. But we see the flag for what it is. A symbol. Not an object to be deified, not something to wrap yourself in to prove how patriotic you are.

And no... you amuse me again.

I'm sorry. I have no idea what you mean unless you are saying that because I disagree with what you believe, I do not have good reading skills.

I agree, but lets face facts here. Democrats and Republicans alike signed off on the Iraq war, and many high ranking Democrats had the same intel the White House did and signed off to go to war! It wasn't one side waving a flag to entice the other, it was both sides waving the flag saying "look at me I am patriotic". There was no manipulation of Democrats, only both parties manipulating their cosntituency!!!

Why is this so hard for you to understand?
It represents a nation and its founding principles - a revolution. Jefferson, Franklin and others were honorable men but they KNEW that the Declaration of Independence was a call to war.

Ah ha! That's right! People do some mighty stupid things trying to show they are more patriotic. Including not asking some real hard questions that should have been asked at the beginning of that fiasco. And that goes for the press too!

PS-But they didn't have information on where that "intel" came from. Paging Mr Cheney!

They had the intel the administration showed them.

But the rest of your post is correct.

Why Thank you! But they had intel beyond just what the Administration showed them. There were high ranking Democrats on several national security oriented committees who had access to everything the Republicans did. Don't kid yourself!
