I think it was about time someone from the Democratic Party attempt to slap the face of the Democratic leadership back to reality. I have good close friends who are of the same views of Zell. They were born Democrats, and will probably die Democrats, but absolutely hate the way the Democratic party is headed.
The National Democratic party is going down. They're losing control of lots of things because of their liberal leanings. They're pushing conservatives out and making them feel unwanted. In the late sixties, and on through the 80's in Mississippi you could almost count Republicans in that state on one hand. Now the Republican party is the majority of voters in Mississippi. The national party is ignoring the southern Democrats in their zeal to re-acquire power at any cost. They've lost their hold on the south. They've lost control of both houses of Congress, yet they blunder ahead regardless. I believe that they actually think they represent the views of a huge majority of Americans, but actually don't. We shall see this November.

Yeah, like being the party for minorities had nothing to do with the "good ol' boys" turning to the Republicans....... At any rate, still doesn't answer the post....typical |

While I didn't agree with much of what Zell said, I think he made the best speech of the convention and I am glad he had the courage to do it.
If anything, Bush's family's adverse reaction just makes me appreciate the speech even more. If the Bush family doesn't like it, it must be good.
