Default The Qur'an

Channel 4 is regarded as the least politicaly bias TV channel in the U.K. Last night they aired, what I thought, was a really interesting peice on the Qu'ran.

Now all the Islam bashing on the forum seems to have died down, maybe people will take the time to watch a balanced argument for and against. It's a long program, but worth it. You can watch it on T4cathup

Of particular interest to me was how the Saudi's are using oil money to export 'Wahhabi' worldwide, and doctor texts including the Qur'an itself.

P.S the first twenty minutes are a bit light, but stay with it. . . .

Or you could read the actual book yourself and come to your own conclusions instead of the TV telling you what to choose.

WOW. . . . It really is quite retarded to reply to a thread, when you haven't assimilated the content, quite hypocritical really too in light of what you posted

If you had, you would have understood, it posed questions not answers and raised geo-political issues you can't read in the Qur'an

Let me re-word your post in reply
"Or you could watch the actual content yourself and come to an intelligent conclusion instead of making assumptions about the content.

Going to bed in a few minutes so no time to look at the program. However i had to study all holy books in high school as wel as having friends of many relgious backgrounds. So i have a fair amount of knowledge on the subject.

there is alot of talk about it but in the end it boils down to this:

1. the islam/christian/jew religions all have violence in their holy books. In fact, all of the three religions had wars about this.

2. interpretation of the books should be seen in the context of the time it was written.

3. All religions have books that try to explain the religious books. some are mild, some are extreme. These are the books that are most quoted by extremists and/or reporters. However these books do not represent the religion.

4. in the end it's all interpretation not everything should be taken literally.
