Default Only idiots think that offshore drilling...

...will do anything for the price of gas.

Our refineries are at maximum capacity as it is....what good is more crude oil? It will only be cheaper crude, which will just put more profit in the oil companies hands. The supply of refined product in the US will not change, the demand in the US will do what it does, thus the capitalist pigs' argument is flawed.

Besides, the exploration, development, production, then transportation of oil from one of the most isolated areas of the country is going to take many years to hit our markets.

Fools, all of you [them]

Even the president's mention of off shore drilling lowered the price and steadied the markets yesterday. Nice try, Quixote.

That's because it's all psychological. Which is exactly what your post proves. All they are is words, and markets reacted.

Besides, his "ban" was just a political gesture. It was illegal before his executive order....now it's just to try to blame the economy and prices on the "librils"

nice tryer

it will take 18 years, they say, for that new oil to reach the refineries... and god only knows how much gas will be by then...

It was succinct, appropriate and more thoughtful than this dopey thread deserved.

But hey, I'm here to help out any way I can.

Not even going to read anymore of your initial post, or any others, all I have to say is WRONG lol.

Just the mention from Bush that he is open for offshore drilling dropped the price per barrel of oil by nine dollars. But I don't expect people <<<Personal Attack Removed>>> to understand economics and the beast behind the curtain known as futures traders.

These are the people who speculate supply and demand of commodities such as oil, and buy and sell on what comes from their speculation.

So if China and India are buying up more and more oil, and they are expanding at an alarming rate, they will continue to need more oil. So if supply doesn't meet or exceed demand, the price of oil goes up, and if supply isn't increased, it continues to go up. Its known as basic economics...<<<Personal Attack Removed>>>

<<<Personal Attack Removed>>> We have idiots like Reed and Pelosi who are so far into space, that common sense is as rare as 14 year old virgin.

Of course offshore drilling will lessen the cost of oil, and coupled with drilling in anwar, and many other places the price will drop quite a bit. Now you add wind, clean coal, nuclear, and other sources of alternative energy, and the price continues to drop.

<<<Personal Attack Removed>>> Supply and demand are the root system to business, and business is the footing that this country and all others stand on. You cant have a great country like this without lots of big business to support it monetarily. The more business, the more money changes hands, the more that money is taxed, and the more taxes turns into more of you favorite government programs you like so much.

Liberals have to be the sharpest or all marbles in the bunch. They want more government programs, but want to shut down those who pay for them. They want to stop using oil and move onto something like water powered transport, but where are you getting all this water?? You going to drain it from the great lakes?? And what is all that water vapor going to do to the planet?

Critical thought and liberals is like spinach to a 5 year old.

How can anyone with a lick of sense think we can continue to use up 25% of the worlds resources? Its time to start living within our means. Drilling will provide no more oil then we can get through simple conservation, while we simultaneously develop alternatives. Or, we can keep drilling and think we are doing something, while our country fails and Japan and takes over in the world economy in the same way they beat our automakers. If you snooze, you lose. America better wake up!
