Super, have you puckered up to smooch the Republican Party goodbye?

They've 'F' ed things up about as you can - Obama will win and the Dem. majority in Congress will grow.

Who wants higher taxes?.......well, if it means less debt, lower gas prices, a better environment, healthier economy, and better healthcare - sign me up! I come out way way ahead on that deal - and so do you.

Oh, and the Dems don't have their representatives being arrested every other day for corruption or resigning because of sexual misconduct.

A question for you. Why do you want to continue policies that have proven to be so destructive to our country? Look at the record. Look at the results. We're living them! It ain't good.

  • less debt - how do you figure that? Lib programs always increase government debt. Look at what FDR's programs and Johnson's programs did to us.
  • lower gas prices - ummm what is to keep the oil companies from passing those taxes right back on to us as the consumer?
  • better environment - clarify please
  • healthier economy - shifting the tax cuts even more to the rich is the way to hurt the economy, not help. punishing the job providers is not the way to strengthen the economy
  • better healthcare - the states with the highest medicare spending have the lowest quality of healthcare

One result: striking variations in what Medicare pays for care in different states, or even neighboring Zip codes. In 2001, the typical Medicare patient in Los Angeles cost the government $3,152 more than a comparable patient in the District. A patient in Miami cost $3,615 more than one in Baltimore.

Those disparities cannot be explained by differences in local prices or rates of illness, said John E. Wennberg, a Dartmouth physician and an expert on geographical variations in medical care. Rather, higher spending is related to the number of specialists, hospital beds and technology available. "If you have twice as many docs in a community," said Wennberg, "you end up with twice as many office visits."

Yet most high-spending states rank near the bottom in quality of care, Medicare data show. Louisiana ranked 50th in quality yet first in Medicare spending in 2001, the most recent year available. New Hampshire was first in quality but 47th in spending.

Medicare acknowledges that its system rewards bad care. Officials have only recently begun to address the problem.

Please expound and clarify.

So you're in favor of going from the villiage idiot in the White House to this decisive, brilliant mind...

Was it just another of his frequent "senior moments", or has John McCain come to the realization he's the Captain of the Titanic with his presidential bid?

During a recent campaign stop, John McCain said... "Could I mention the presence of my friend Congressman Steve Pearce who I believe will be joining me in the United States Senate."

So McCain thinks he is going to be in the Senate next year?

So do we. So do we.

In case you haven't seen the video, here's a link to a very short video from July 9th. John McCain is being asked by a reporter about his recent vote on a bill. That should be a simple question to field. Apparently not.

The first time I saw this video I had the immediate thought that it seemed almost exactly like the video of George W. Bush after being informed America was under attack on 9/11. The blank stare, the rolling of his eyes, the gazing off into space, rubbing his face, mouth open but unable to form any words, the pained "my hemorrhoids hurt" look... we've seen it before.

More and more it seems like John McCain is completing the morphing process of becoming George W. Bush.

The GOP is just not future ready. And that they selected a semi corpse as their candidate really drives that point home.

I'd rather have a corporation in charge of the economy than the government.

Why The GOP Is Seriously Screwed if Obama Wins
by thereisnospoon
Fri Jul 18, 2008 at 06:30:41 AM PDT

....................

.......... But make no mistake: the red-state/blue-state division so loved and exploited by Republicans starts--and often ends--with race.

If Obama wins, Republicans are screwed in more ways than they can possibly imagine. Or then again, perhaps they can--and they're petrified to the core. If so, we should expect them to pull out all the stops to create the ugliest election we've seen in our lifetimes.
...............

In come Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton--a black man and a woman vying fiercely for the Presidency and making history in the process. Obama triumphs. And looming on the GOP's horizon is its worst nightmare: the possibility that a majority of Americans might vote for an African-American for President.. And not just vote for one, but get used to one. Americans might become accustomed to the idea of an African-American family living in the White House, and being its public face to the world. That in the process, Americans might actually make leaps and bounds forward on the issue of race and thereby remove the most effective wedge in the Republican toolbox for decades.

...................

And that is why this election terrifies the GOP. In just one election cycle, an entire agenda and electoral strategy spanning over three decades could be dashed on the rocks, with no credible replacement. Milton Friedman's privatization agenda would be dead in the water, without hope of rescue barring military coup. Republicans in this situation are like a desperate, dangerous cornered animal.
