People like that are better off dead, honestly. That may be a mean thing to say, but it's true. I am an ex-medic myself, and if you can't handle the job, don't sign up for it. It's sad to see people die, but it's even sadder that he has a kid that is probably just as weak minded.

My friend as I said served in Iraq for six months two years ago, and came back with PTSD, and has being seeing a therapist for two years, now he is expected to go back to Iraq and fight even though he is not mentally sound.
He can't handle the job anymore but he has no choice but to go.
