Icon8 Gosh, this Privitised Healthcare sure is working great.

"After nearly 24 hours of waiting...Esmin Elizabeth Green fell out of her chair in the waiting room of Brooklyn's largest... hospital nearly an hour before anyone realized she was in trouble. For 20 minutes, she writhed and twisted between two chairs under the watchful eye of a security camera..."

Not exactly recent news, but sad all the same. I hope her family sue the pants off that hospital, and I hope all those people who ignored her are charged with manslaughter.

Old news, and you forgot to mention this was in a waiting room in a mental ward, not an emergency unit or anything. The main person at fault is the guard who looked at her and walked away, or all the crazies who sat there and didn't say anything. Under normal circumstances, in a non-mental patient area, this would never happen.

Being in a mental unit does not mean she did not deserve the care afforded to everyone else.
The 'crazy' people who didn't help her are not expected to help, that job is left to the nurses and security guards who ignored her.

there will always be cases where such things happen. its sad, but happens.

just imagine if socialized healthcare was in effect. doctors would have no ambition to have more patients, do a good job (b/c of the huge unions that would form), the nurses would be lazy...just like every other government agency.

oh my gosh. i can't even fathom it.

Had this been in a socialized system, she would have died at home on a waiting list instead of in the hospital.

I could be wrong, but there are people out there motivated by things other then Greed. People who want to save lives. Doctors aren't the ones making the bulk of money off of Privitized hospitals. The Administrators are, so the quality of care from Doctors, and there desire to help people, would not be affected by healthcare being private or not.

No, the woman died, on the floor, infront of everyone.

The point is, that it is a private mental health hospital that didn't budget well enough to accomidate it's patients. But, I bet the CEO had enough money for his boat/second home/secret lover on the side?
