Screwing the aging population? Have you got to be kidding? This country does way too much for the richest demographic (i.e. those over 65). They get government payouts, as well as free health care.

States joined the Union voluntarily so they have a right to leave voluntarily.

That idea was squashed almost 150 yrs ago. I agree with you in theory, but in actuality, the ability to secede was taken away by military force.
