More demogaugery trying to quote the fairtax as an exclusive tax and not a inclusive tax. The 23% is a percent of the total price, this is purposeful misprepresentation of the fairtax. These issues are addressed in Fair Tax answering the critics .

People like to misrepresent this because it takes so much power away from the Federal government to control us through taxation. Also it eliminates the IRS.

Unfortunately we will probably never see it because the government already holds so much power that it does not want to get rid of anytime soon, if ever. You can be sure the more liberal people become with their views on government, the further away we will ever be from a tax that focuses on equity.

It seems to me that the fair tax is not fair at all though. It seems to be a regressive tax. This means that a homeless man is paying the same taxes as Bill Gates. The only defense for it that I can think of would be that Bill Gates would be spending more, and thus pay more taxes. But in a Keynsian economy, the poor would get wrecked.
