I haven't been walking in ages, but I know I have the motivation to do it - it just takes looking at my butt and thighs in the mirror to vow to go walking the next morning!

I can't understand how other people can't find the motivation. I'm lazy by choice at the moment, but you can be motivated by choice, too.
Its a mindset to motivate yourself and you just have to find what works on you! For me, when I dont feel like getting up...I just think of how great I will feel AFTER I have done it instead of focusing on the negative of what I need to do right now.

Everytime I force myself to do something I dont feel like, I feel great about it and dont regret it. I like that feeling so it motivates me.

Oatmeal is MUCH better than toast (white bread is the worst)....white bread toast would give you empty carbs. A good whole grain bread would be ok though I guess but not as good as oatmeal. Oatmeal will help your bloodsugar remain level for longer, give you fiber and help you feel full a bit longer til your next meal. You can also get more mileage out of it with fruit added or walnuts (banana and walnut is very good).

I must confess I am a very fussy eater. I do not like oats or bananas. I don't like a lot of fruit, I like apples and watermelon, and grapes, that is about it.

Most of what we like or dont like is acquired. Taste cant nor should it be your number 1 priority when it comes to food and your eating habits. You need a wider variety of food to make sure you get all your nutrients.

The brain is VERY effected if it does not get its required nutrients. Check this out.

If you are a fussy eater then you should do your best to get over that. I can relate to that because I am as well and currently I am forcing myself to eat a little salmon once per week. I have actually come to LIKE many things I couldnt stand before.....because the more you eat something, the more you will like it. I used to hate my daily spinach salad, now I look forward to it and love it! I used to hate Feta cheese, its now a favorite.

You only get one body, treat as the precious thing it is!

There are things I cannot physically stomach, because even the smell of the food makes me gag. Cheese for example - especially melted cheese, makes me dry retch. The smell makes me feel sick. Other foods have a texture I have never gotten used to.
Most foods I don't like I have never liked. There are only a very few foods that I used tolove but don't eat now. I used to eat sausages all the time, but I haven't touched them in about ten years. I'm convinced they have cardboard in them...not true, obviously, but it doesn't stop me from thinking it.

I do have a nutrient problem in which my body doesn't absorb certain nutrients. I have to take supplements and have injections to keep my levels normal. I have a gastroscopy on Thursday to find out what is going on.

I eat lots of potatos, carrots and beans (I hate peas), I like roasted pumpkin because I can't stomach it any other way.
Some vegetables and fruits I am willing to try, it depends on the smell and whether I react to it or not.

I agree that tastes are definitely acquired at least to some degree. I have weaned myself off of high sugar and fat foods and drinks to the point that they actually don't even taste that good to me anymore, since I am so used to the low sugar / fat alternatives.

I think Jellah's recommendation in the morning is good. The big thing to stay away from in the morning is sweets. If you consume too many sweets your body will not be able to metabolize the excess glucose. The body will sense the spike in glucose and release a corresponding spike of insulin. The spike in insulin will then make you crave sweets again! The result is that the excess glucose is turned into glycogen and if your body already has enough of that it is converted into FAT. So stay away from sugars, but fruits are OK.
