Well, I don't know if this is true, but it is giving him a lot of credit. I think what the left is outraged about is the showing of Brittney and Paris while this is being said.

This is a question that everyone should be asking.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8fkbEuCQss

From Obama's Youtube page: "But, what wouldn’t do a thing, to lower gas prices is John McCain’s new proposal, a proposal adopted by George Bush as well, to open up Florida’s coastline to offshore drilling."

Barack Obama Told A Texas Newspaper: "What We Ought To Tax Is Dirty Energy, Like Coal And, To A Lesser Extent, Natural Gas." ("Q&A With Sen. Barack Obama," San Antonio Express-News, 2/19/08 )

He wants to raise taxes on "dirty energy" and he is against offshore drilling, so, this would be true.

I think taking the "taxes on electricity" might be a far off reach, but, I don't believe in half truths...it either is or is not, and in this case it is. If Obama doesn't want this stuff to bite him, he needs to be careful what he says. There are plenty of you here who would turn around and do the same thing if it were McCain who made a mistake like this, so stop whining.

I do agree, however, that I would like to see more McCain ads that talk about himself and not Obama. And, if Obama wants to argue the legitimacy of this ad, he has every right too. Now, for the criticism...ya'll have fun, now, ya hear.
I think this commercial is complete crap. It's low even for politicians. This is complete slander, nothing real or political, just slander. Being against offshore drilling should be a small issue because it has little impact. "he's the biggest celebrity in the world?" Come on, without paris and britney that's just straight up insulting and unwarranted.

Higher taxes, more foreign oil is the real Obama? His taxes are lower than McCains in the first place so it makes sense he avoids that and turns to electricity tax. And more foreign oil? Offshore drilling provide less than 7% of America's daily use and we'd be using up our own resources instead of wasting everyone elses.

This commercial is crap and McCain should be embarassed to be part of it.

Do you have proof of any of your claims here?

I don't necessarily disagree with you on this statement.

Now that's a great ad!

What makes this ad so great? Also, it would appear this ad was for the Iowa Caucuses (according to the final screen that says "Barack Obama for President. Caucus January 3rd,") so obviously it is not new.

I have always thought that Barack is a wonderful public speaker. I'm sure that he would have an excellent career writing motivational speeches. However, that does not qualify him to be president.

BTW, I think we all know by now that he wants to be president for the whole United States, not just for the blue or red states. That's pretty much a given.

The underhanded push for offshore drilling

Of course you don't agree with me, you love McCain.

I want everyone to look at this ad. Watch the McCain ads and then watch this ad and tell me who is going to win the character vote.

Because it speaks about what is good in America and the need for us to unite to solve out problems, and it demonstrates the inspiration Obama generates to lead us there.

You appear to be right there. I searched for new Obama ads and this came up. I hadn't noticed the date at the end. Thank you for bringing that to my attention.

I have always thought that Barack is a wonderful public speaker. I'm sure that he would have an excellent career writing motivational speeches. However, that does not qualify him to be president.

IMO, the most important quality in a leader is the capacity to inspire those he leads to tackle the serious problems our country and our world faces.

Not according to the McCain ads that focus on division.

Maybe someone should get ol' John up to snuff. Britney WAS hot stuff - a few years ago, just like the GOP.

The fact that he picked Spears and Hilton as his examples shows just how outa touch that old kook is.

bsgrw correctly pointed out the video I posted above, that I belived to be new, was actually an ad from the primaries. I thanked bsgrw for making me aware of my error.

This ad I was more careful in researching. It was first aired July 30th of this year, and seeks to dispel some of the attacks made against Obama, as well as speak to the issues we are concerned about.

Well Obama finally retaliated but even his retaliation wasn't anything like McCains ads. He still gets the character vote here.
