Default McCain's Newest Ad

John McCain has a new ad running. It doesn’t explain what he’d like to do about the price of gasoline. It doesn’t explain how he’s going to get our troops out of Iraq in less than 100 years now that the Prime Minister of Iraq has said Obama’s plan of 16 months is the right one. McCain’s ad doesn’t mention how he will fix the housing crisis caused by his economic advisor, Phil Gramm.

His ad doesn’t mention anything about the economy. Of course John McCain has said he doesn’t understand much about economics so maybe that’s the reason. His ad doesn’t mention his idea about privatizing Social Security. McCain’s new ad doesn’t mention the massive deficit created by George W. Bush and the Republicans. None of those trivial things.

John McCain instead wants to focus attention on his claim that Barack Obama is like Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. Apparently his ad is suffering from one of McCain’s infamous “senior moments”. Maybe somebody should explain to him that Britney Spears is a woman. Obama isn’t. Maybe somebody should explain to him that Paris Hilton is a woman. Obama isn’t. Then there’s the issue of two white ladies. In case you haven’t been paying attention to the Republican racial smears, Obama is black.

But if we’re going to use celebrity comparisons, then John McCain would certainly fit the description of Max Goldman, the character played by Walter Matthau in “Grumpy Old Men.” McCain is an old man, the oldest to ever run for the presidency. He does have “senior moments”. He has them a lot. He is grumpy, and his flash hot, judgment-impairing temper is renowned among friends and foes alike. So on all fronts, John McCain qualifies for the comparison.

He is an old man. He is grumpy. He is a grumpy old man. He seems perfectly suited to play the role of the neighborhood crank. The one that stumbles to the front door in black socks, house slippers, a K-Mart bathrobe, a three day beard and yells out… “YOU KIDS GET OFF OF MY LAWN!”

If the Republicans think celebrity comparisons is an election-deciding issue, that is critically important to Americans, then let’s re-introduce the Republican nominee, John McCain… A Grumpy Old Man.

desperation... and even repubs are condemning him behind this silly move. It will definitely backfire, and Obama responded well.

That message almost downright lies. That's some serious propoganda for the McCain campaign, no truth, just prop.

Alright, here is the script broken down...

Quote:
He’s the biggest celebrity in the world.
Well, I don't know if this is true, but it is giving him a lot of credit. I think what the left is outraged about is the showing of Brittney and Paris while this is being said.

Quote:
But, is he ready to lead?
This is a question that everyone should be asking.

Quote:
With gas prices soaring, Barack Obama says no to offshore drilling.

From Obama's Youtube page: "But, what wouldn’t do a thing, to lower gas prices is John McCain’s new proposal, a proposal adopted by George Bush as well, to open up Florida’s coastline to offshore drilling."

Quote:
And say’s he’ll raise taxes on electricity.
Barack Obama Told A Texas Newspaper: "What We Ought To Tax Is Dirty Energy, Like Coal And, To A Lesser Extent, Natural Gas." ("Q&A With Sen. Barack Obama," San Antonio Express-News, 2/19/08 )

Quote:
Higher taxes, more foreign oil. That’s the real Obama.
He wants to raise taxes on "dirty energy" and he is against offshore drilling, so, this would be true.

I think taking the "taxes on electricity" might be a far off reach, but, I don't believe in half truths...it either is or is not, and in this case it is. If Obama doesn't want this stuff to bite him, he needs to be careful what he says. There are plenty of you here who would turn around and do the same thing if it were McCain who made a mistake like this, so stop whining.

I do agree, however, that I would like to see more McCain ads that talk about himself and not Obama. And, if Obama wants to argue the legitimacy of this ad, he has every right too. Now, for the criticism...ya'll have fun, now, ya hear.

He has demonstrated better judgment on the war, the economy, heatlh care, the environment, etc. etc., and he has as much experience as Lincoln did.

The video provides no facts, just the absurd comparison to Spears and Hilton.

If this is such the miracle cure for all our energy problems why didn't the Republicans get legislation passed for additional drilling while they were in control of the presidency and Congress for 6 years? It isn't as if we haven't known for 30 years that our oil reserves are being depleted. Give me a break! It is an election year ploy, nothing more!

He wants to raise taxes on "dirty energy" and he is against offshore drilling, so, this would be true.

Most of us see it as the opposite, he wants to make coal burning less polluting and additional offshore drilling is not going to solve anything.

Again, no facts were provided in the ad in making this claim!

That is McCain's problem with this ad, moderates will realizes McCain is not saying what he will do about our problems, just another example of avoiding the issues.

Well, when you're weak on the issues you have to avoid the issues. Same reason the GOP employs a Michelle Obama ad attacking her patriotism in my state.
