Many homophobics are homophobic because of their religion, the bible tells them to basically discriminate against people who are gay, others are because of maybe being molested by someone who was homosexual, others could be homophobic because they dont want to become gay themselves so they are afraid of homosexuals. Homophobia can come from just about anywhere.

They are born with the potential (we might all be born with the potential) and environmental factors influence the degree of desire for the same sex.

We all are born with the potential but it all comes down to how we are raised if we actually do become homophobic.

I was actually talking about homosexuality in terms of genetic potential but I agree with your statement.

Why or why not?
I think anyone who is afraid of someone because of who or what that person has sex with, is smart. Why?

1. Because of what you might catch, just by letting them cut your hair with a sharp instrument.
2. Because of what you might see, that you wish you never saw.
3. Because of what you might smell, shortly after what they might have done.
4. Because of what you might hear, that you wish you never heard.
5. Because of the people you might meet, that you wish you never met.

If this post offends you, then let me apologize in advance and graciously accept your black mark for being honest. If these are choices, then they are the same as the choice to step out of the way of a moving car, or to stand there and get hit.

Only if you dont try to earn about the homosexual lifestyle or anything about homosexuals at all.

That actually shows you know more about it than most heteros do. Heteros who know absolutely nothing about homosexuals are the ignorant ones, you being raised by a homosexual makes you knowledgeable of the homosexual lifestyle and the discrimination against homosexuals.

Id try my best to.

I said it is not

This is not about homosexuality, this is about a gene that makes someone afraid of people who are homosexual.

i became a bit homophobic as a kid when by dad's gay friends would eye me sexually without actually engaging in a constructive conversation with me at my dad's gay parties. not all, but a few.

when i ceased contact with him for a few years, my homophobia ceased, although my belief system changed a great deal with it.

Sure - just people who assume things and don't bother to actually do their research and talk to gay people. People who claim things about homosexuals which are not factual and just insulting. That is ignorance - narrow mindedness.
and what if one is raised among homosexuals?

Haha, I get a little weirded out when people eye me too without talking to me too, thats normal, i get weirded out by guys and girls doing it (and im bisexual). That didnt make you homophobic, just a little weirded out.
