Yes. And thats respectable. However you can benefit from what you earn and have some handed to the poor. Some have enough to do that. We should care for all in our society including the least fortunate.

But if its forced it loses all meaning. In any case goverment misuses those funds and Private Charity and non profit groups are a much more effiecent and effective way to help others.

You say it loses its meaning but you dont back that up. And anyway the main point isnt to say look how much I gave to charity thats not the meaning . The meaning is to provide for the less fortunate and to that by the means necessary here. People talk about the right to keep your money if that what you want to do but you should give it to charity. But while those people say that there are people living in poverty and suffering. Something must be done.
