Only one way to stop them, DON"T VOTE FOR EITHER SIDE. But do vote.

There is no question that riders are now wholly abused for pork barrel spending, to kill the main legislation, or, force a legislator to choose between passing something good along with something bad and later being held “accountable” for making that no-win decision. However, that is not the reason they were originally allowed. It was for expediency to save Congress’s time.

In this day, in the age of partisan politics and political pandering in the form of pork barrel spending, I personally feel riders are as out-dated as the rule-of-thumb, and as such should be outlawed.

I think that outlawing riders will be difficult if not impossible in the adversarial environment that exists in our political institutions.

Starting with the great polarizer, our politicians have focussed more on the importance of party and less on what is important to the country. To the point where we now have Democratic leadership in congress that is more concerned about gaining or losing seats than they are about defending the constitution.

Yep "only" democrats do that??

It's called pandering and both sides do it, but they pander the minority special interest ($$) groups and the elitists ($$$) more than they do the majority ($)!

And republican invented gerrymandering, which is a completely unethical activity, not too mention illegal, but democrats do it too! Go figure?
