that's new to me? too bad that Fokker Space only makes the components not the sofware. In fact software is only made by nasa and esa i think. The software nasa developed way back is still used now.

I remember reading that this project has to be based in a country near, or on the equator for the spin or something. They mentioned Sri Lanka as a possibility I believe, and two Seattle companies bid on it, but the slow production of carbon nanotubes slowed it down. Am I understanding what I read, or am I totally lost like I think I am.

P.S. I will import janitors, if they are good ones.

well yes and no. If i remember correctly they wanted it above the equator because of the massive amounts of storms they need to avoid. And i think they thought about a mobile base station because if a hurricane would be near the space elevator, it would be easier to avoid.
