Are your forces being bombed by America planes? Dogfighting with American fighters? We have the forces in range right at the moment.

No. While we'd like some other sources to confirm what the Russians are saying it looks like Georgia screwed up and our support for them is therefore not so impressive. We may wind up ditching them. Or perhaps we'll let Saakashvili go down and try to work out something with whoever comes in next.

Though that doesn't mean the US will write a blank check to Russia for some new land for them to annex. I'd expect calls for ceasefires, maybe some Sabre rattling if Russia pushes too far south, and maybe even some action if they try and hold Georgia. But that's about containing Russian aggression and a return to Soviet expansion, not love of Georgia.

So why do you support the Vari in the Kremlin?

No American's to answer your question. Its funny how they all go running when the truth hits home. I'll answer your question for you. It is because Georgia is strategically located on the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline which carries oil from the Caspian Sea to Europe. The US has airlifted 2,000 Georgian troops from Iraq to assist further in the terrorism of the Ossetian people. The US is part of the problem and not the solution, so any attempts to bring on board the US to the negotiating table will be bogus. America is, and has not been, an honest mediator or broker in any conflict because it views other sovereign states who resist the empire as merely expendable to its interests. The US ought to be helping Russia overcome the Georgian agressors and terrorists but Georgia is embedded to the "Washington Consensus" and is therefore currently 'on-side' with the empire.

Hey! The US taxpayer provided a boatload of cash into Georgia (via the NED and the Liberty Institute) to help overthrow Shevardnadze and get Saakashvili elected. We're just having a little difficulty watching our investment flush himself down the toilet.
