I have seen a lot of people talk badly about the good Ole USA. Not just on these forums, but on others as well. And this might be far from anyone’s mind, but I am curious what people actually think.

But if the USA went bankrupt like the USSR. Or it just could not operate any longer, what would happen to the residents of the USA?

And what would happen to the rest of the world?


Oh I didn’t know to either put this in Opinion Polls or in the opinion/Belief areas. So I done the enny, minny, miney, moe thing.

With Reid and Pelosi heading up Congress we are basically there.

It would suck because a good part of this country is dependant on the Man to take care of them , many people will die .

Indeed. As much as people (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) about US dominance, the world markets rely on them, for right or for wrong (they aren't the strongest economy, just one of the largest).

If it went bankrupt, expect massive recessions in the west as people lose China. China would be hit strongly, as their currency is pegged to the dollar, which would crash horribly.

It would be a sucky time, mainly for Americans as the hyperinflation due to the world selling its dollar reserves would be glorious to see.

However, it would never happen, as the US would just borrow imaginary money to plug over the deficit. That would result in a recession as people lose confidence, but nothing on the scale of a collapsed economy.

Now, if the US actually disappeared, and was abducted by aliens, that would be a different story entirely...

And it would suck the entire world into quicksand... America is huge in case you hadn't noticed it influences all of us. But, as for the residents it would have a big social ladder fallback, resulting in even bigger differences and less consideration for so called non immediate issues like pollution, which if you ask me is an immediate issue.

This gets the Melodrama Award for today.


That would be the least of your concerns. The sudden loss of law and order... and the well-meaning nitwits with guns trying to restore it... that would be the nasty part.
The economic problems would certainly exacerbate the problem

Actually, the end of the federal government would be a great thing for the country, as the federal government is the biggest enemy to freedom in the United States. I would love to see a return to the Articles of Confederation. The anti-federalists were right - all of their fears about the consolidation of power under the federal government have been proven true.

Of course, the transition would be rough. There would be a depression or hyper-inflation to contend with, but such blame would rest solely with the corrupt politicians the majority has elected.

They would have to fend for themselves. It is not the responsibility of the U.S. to take care of the rest of the world.

We liberals are the patriots, who see that america is strong enough to withstand 8 years of by far the dumbest man ever to be president, and still come out of it in pretty good shape. And T-B, government's have ended many times before in history, but the result has not always been greater freedom for the people. Stronger, more oppressive governments often result.
