Almost all Texans today agree with Lincoln though... what would Texas be without the United States?

anyway, friends, can you stop making fun of my home state? Yes, we have a lot of wackos here but we also have a lot more general population. As for per capita, i don't know. Yes, we like to execute people, but on the inside, who doesn't ? ( yes, i'm kidding ) If we keep it up, maybe one day we'll have less wackos.

What the Texas tourism industry doesn't want you to know is that most of Texas is pretty much just like every other state... I don't know anyone who owns a horse.

The United States is a lot more homogeneous than it used to be.

Nathan....I'm a 5th generation Texan. Don't let the jealousites get to you. They only wished they came from Texas!!
BTW, my neighbor owns 2 horses. And I know several people who own horses.

I've lived here in Texas for five years and I know I don't like it compared to what I am used to.

Man made lakes don't turn me on and I don't like to take vacations away from here cuz you spend the first two days just drivin' out of the state.

To flat and too hot!

But the people are dy-no-mite. The born and bred Texan is tough and if i had to fight a war, the more Texans the better.

I spent time in Baltimore where they just walk up an put it in ya'
but down here, they put it in ya' and just walk up!

I love the lakes, rivers and beaches we have. Texans truly know how to party, all you need is a keg or more and a body of water, to make it more interesting you and smoke some blunts (if thats your thing). Mix all three together for hours of fun in the sun, pass out around 4, wake up when the sun goes down and party into the night! Oh yeah, and you cannot forget the barbecue!

Ok I don't understand why people lump other people into a big 'ol group and blame them for things dead people did 150 years ago. For someone to call me a hypocrite because some ignorant racist idiot 150 years ago decided to side with the confederacy is just dumb.

Texas left Mexico because (1) as a Mexican citizen, becoming Catholic was *required* (i.e. no freedom of religion) and (2) Slavery was forbidden in Mexico, so people who had invested in slavery were pissed at Texas officials and the 2 issues forced Texas leaders to pull out.

There's a lot wrong with Texas, but there's a lot of great things about it too. Texas is one of the few states, if not the only one, who could survive 100% on its own. We have a ton of farmland and ranchland, a massive abundance of natural resources including oil, textiles and cotton, access to the ocean, more lakes than any other state except Minnesota, and no state tax.

Texas gives $1.00 dollar in federal taxes to Washington and gets 0.89 cents back. So on behalf of all of the other Texas taxpayers, "you're welcome".

That's an old joke! Heard it many times. But a good one.

And thanks for the compliment about Texans. I agree.

Good points. Plus our state...Texas.....supplies the rest of the country with about 25% of it's oil. So, without us we'd be EVEN more dependent on foreign oil. So.....as Ozek said....."on behalf of all the other Texans, "you're welcome."

Reference the joke, I tried to rephrase it so that words might be recognized in their broader sense rather than the longest. Ha Ha Guess I failed.

Default HAHA - -thanks!

These posts by deuce and JP5 support my experience with texans - - they sure do like living in the armpit and bygod no state in America can come close to texASS.

Personally, I'd like to see texASS survive on its own, as was suggested. I'd like to greet the refugees as they leave and ask them if they still think it's the greatest state-EVER!

Alternatively, I've suggested in the past either letting them secede, since they imagine they are so much better than America and are propping the rest of us up (see that nonsense above about the tax money) OR building a wall around the place so texans can't get out. I'll help guard the perimeter.

BTW - I'm originally from Detroit and now live in Phoenix.
Do they teach y'all where those are, down there in those "wonderful" schools y'all got?

I don't think DBG wasn't held enough as a child, I think her dad should have spent more time educating her about manners and tact and less time molesting and raping her.
