Why was it admirable when Abraham offered to kill his son in the name of God, but repulsive, psychotic, and crazy when a random lady from Texas does?
Abraham seems about as random to me.

That particular 'lesson' from the christian religious text was one of the reasons I needed to find a better religion than the one I grew up with - - that's one of the most disgusting pieces of pornography ever written.
And OH! the contradictions!! The christians claim their god construct is omniscient - all-powerful, all-knowing. Yet the supposed reason for the Abraham horror is so that Abraham would prove his love/trust in that god construct. Why did the god not know whether Abraham loved/trusted him? Why did the god choose murder most foul as his lesson plan? That story came off as a petty tyrant god construct with security issues. Talk about not being held enough as a child! |

When you read the bible, don't focus on the old testimate. It hasn't aged very well, and whoever wrote it down seemed to focus on the bizarre and strage, rather than lessons and important concepts.

Another thing:
Ethical principles do not apply to god. Ethical principles are an aid to humans, who do not know everything, to help them in deciding what would be the right thing to do. Because we cannot possibly fathom all of the consequences of our actions, we have laws and principles to guide us on what is the right thing to do. God, on the otherhand , can do whatever he pleases. And please read the new testimate. Read the gospel of Mark, it has some good stuff in it, and read revelation.

I would also like to point out that a large percentage of Texas' problems are caused by illegal immigration. It is a large border and easy to cross. Since it is an international border, the funds are supplied by Washington D.C. and of course it is massively underfunded.
There are drug dealers who hire kids to drive cars across the border. They make sure the driver is illegal and they stock 5 cars with drugs and drive them all over. Only one out of 5 is searched due to shortage of manpower, and the other 4 make it across no problem. The one they catch is illegal so they simply send him back and confiscate the worthless car. All of the school and healthcare statistics are greatly skewed because of all the illegal aliens in Texas. And again, because it is a federal issue, Texans are powerless to solve the problem. If you don't like Texas, that's great. It's getting crowded already since people are tired of freezing their butts of in the north and they are coming in droves. Texas has gained electoral votes nearly every decade, because more people are coming, despite it being an 'armpit.' |

God never told Bush to go to war, and God never told the lady to kill her sons. Its stupid to even think that God would tell a women or a president that today after the death on the cross. Jesus changed everything |

here's the deal. Although I agree with your argument, you are submitting yourself to the same level by generalizing the poster to all liberals.

it was interesting how the conversation focus so much on Texas as opposed to the issue at hand.
It seems to me that it's easy for people, mothers, presidents, countries, terrorists to just use religion as their excuse to taking other people's lives away. Is religion the cause of all problems? |
