Default All of this talk about Texas gives me an idea......

We need to sterlize the stupid and all of the Texas haters on this board would be a great place to start.

To prove how stupid the subject of Texas hating can be, read all of these posts again and replace Texas with Iowa or Rhode Island and tell me how stupid it sounds.

The idiots with these sorts of ideas will have 7 kids while more emotionally balanced people will be having one or two kids. If you ever needed proof that the world was doomed, just think about that little piece of information. Eventually we will be overrun with idiots like the Texas-hating posters here.

Laney, 39, has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to murder in the deaths of 8-year-old Joshua and 6-year-old Luke, and serious injury to a child for the beating of Aaron, now 2.

Bingham pounded his fist in his hand as he recounted Joshua's killing: "He got strike after strike after strike on his head to the point that his brains were coming out of his head like liquid."

Here is the crux:

Laney, who home-schooled (search) her children in the tiny town of New Chapel Hill, 100 miles southeast of Dallas, was convinced she was divinely chosen by God to kill her children last Mother's Day weekend, psychiatrists testified.

Hmmmm.....attacking TEXAS? You guys will go to greath lengths to try and smear Bush. Even attacking his state. Well....let's be fair here: let all of you list the states YOU or [are] from so I can search around finding articles to post that SMEAR YOUR STATES???? Maybe SMEAR YOUR RELIGION WHILE I'M AT IT. Okie dokie? I'm quite sure you ALL have your share of crazies. Because if you have a couple of crazies in YOUR state....then it naturally follows that everyone in your state, including YOU, are also crazy, eh?

Libs are so desperate. It's really quite sad.
I or [are] from (at one time or another in my life) Colorado, Connecticut, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, & Washington. SMEAR AWAY!!!

Because god is vengeful and irrational. But the Big Bully doesn't just choose Texans. He/She seeks out the profoundly ignorant and uneducated to manipulate. But it gets worse. If you don't worship Him/Her in the correct church then you're off to eternal torture of the very worst kind. Good luck on the religion lottery.

Perhaps we silly humans just ginned up the idea of god(s) to try to explain floods and lightning... and our inevitable death?

Default Florida

I would like to offer Florida as a candidate for bashing. I live in Florida and can vouch for the level of idiocy as probably nearly as high as in Texas. Anyway, we also have a Bush in charge, so we are close to Texas in that area as well. I have to admit that Jeb seems saner than "W", but he did stumble over that Terry Shiavo(sp) fiasco.

Man created God in his own image. That is why God is so nasty. I have said that if the fundamentalists turn out to be right and I end up at the pearly gates, I will volunteer to go to hell: No way do I want to spend eternity praising that vicious monster!

God never told Bush to go to war, and God never told the lady to kill her sons.

Its stupid to even think that God would tell a women or a president that today after the death on the cross.

Jesus changed everything
I agree that God never told GWB to go to war. I even agree that God didn't tell that woman to kill her children. But for a different reason: God doesn't tell anybody to do anything! As far as I can tell, there is no real advantage in believing that God exists at all.

Here is an observation that Orwell made about a certain type of atheist:

"He was an embittered atheist, the sort of atheist who does not so much disbelieve in God as personally dislike Him."

To that I would add that God is probably commenting, "I wouldn't blame people for hating me if I did all the things people claim I did". God is the single most slandered being in the universe, IMO. The sad part is that Fundamentalists do most of the slandering by ascribing to God characteristics that He does not possess. My point is: Don't base your opinion of God or of Christianity on what the loud, ultra-right fringe "Christians" say and do in the name of God or in the name of the Christian religion.

This afternoon I spoke with an extremely dedicated special-ed teacher who volunteered he attended parochial school when the spaceship Challenger exploded. The nun teacher told the kids the shuttle deaths occurred because those kids had been outside having fun at that time.

He is Catholic, and he is a teacher, in spite of what another of his own kind had to say.

I posted to alt.atheism for several years. What I noticed was that there were only a few what I would call "true" atheists posting there; most of the posters believed in God but were mad at him(sic) and were punishing him by claiming s/he does not exist. Ranting and raving about how awful Christianity is was the favorite topic. I claim to be able to spot a "true" atheist because s/he is not emotional about the subject of God. How can one be emotional about a non-existent entity?
