Not many people know this, but I'm really famous!

People care too much about military service records, period. No amount of military service experience is going to save our economy, or establish healthy relationships with other countries, or reduce poverty, etc etc.

uhhhh... there was a lot more in that video than McLame's military service record... things like his connection to Charles Keating, committing adultery, his flip floppin' senate record...

Well I was only commenting on the first portion.

The flip flopping and the conceit to appeal to the Republicans further on the right is what really gets me, because McCain had always been more moderate than that. It feels like he's deceiving them.

While I laugh at this stuff, deep down it probably would be highly effective. Somehow it feeds into the mentality of the American voter and we are poorer for it. Just for a change, I would like the candidates to act in respectful ways toward each other and work with each other for the common good of the US and actually explain what it is they would do in office.

I keep hoping that we will see leadership that brings in all citizens to an understanding of government, an openness to the process. Something that would assist citizens in voting for decisions that make sense and they actually agree with. This would be in contrast to citizens making a decision to vote and then claiming no responsibility for what happens next. But lacking good leaders, voters need to do their own research and not rely upon muckraking ads that work on our psyche much like a commercial for a new car or a brand of cereal.
