Default Country first?

What is meant by this slogan, "country first?" Would anyone care to define it?

A marketing slogan meant to appeal to patriotic and nationalistic sentiments, but void of any real meaning.
But obviously far more meaningful than "change", right?
Just like McCain's ease with the media and constant talkshow appearances don't seem to make him a "celebrity candidate".

If you read between the lines, it implies that the Democrats care about something else first.

Java: Hasn't McSame been promising change too?

Oh yes.
"Change you can trust" rather than "change we can believe in"
Obviously a far more meaningful statement, eh?

I honestly cannot understand how people can take the attacks on Obama as "insubstantial" or "celebrity" seriously without noticing that McCain's campaign contains the same kind of crap.

McCain's campaign is ingenious... keeping focus on Obama so he can attack and so that Obama's "insubstantiality" gets more media coverage in front of non-GOP faithful... then after Obama's defining speech (one that was quite substantial actually) grabbing the spotlight with a trivial VP pick.
Frame n' run!

The DNC better learn how to cope with that and fast... The first thing they need to do is forget Palin and get the media back on their candidate.

Not a chance. The media is going to blow this election for the Dems, and it's not because the liberals control the media if you n'amsayin

Just a slogan as far as I can tell. But it fits. I imagine McCain will put our Country first before the UN, the people living in this country, and with a little luck before partisanship.

And yes there is the Implication that Obama will put what Iran wants before the US and so on.

It is a dreadful phrase when you think about it. Authoritarian regimes are known to tell people that they should subsume their interests/individuality to the betterment of the country or regime.

I think he meant to say "Country Club First" because he is only interested in helping his wealthy friends. There must have been a mix up at the printers.

Democrats are a bit more on the side of global unions while Republicans are lagging just a bit behind them. So I guess it's just nationalism. The phrase doesn't mean that much to me because I don't think our they put our country first often enough. We'd probaby be better off living according to a "family first" motto.
