CNN uses what they call iReporters. These are comments from average people.
One such article is: http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/...ef=werecommend In it, "iReporter Rick Seno, who's leaning toward voting for Green Party nominee Cynthia McKinney, said Republicans are embracing the politics of fear. "Constantly bringing up 9/11, reminding us that terrorists are lurking behind every corner trying to kill us. Trying to frighten the public that gays are trying to get married and adopt children and teach in our public schools. "Trying to make us afraid of illegal immigrants coming across the border, stealing our jobs and committing crimes," he said. "Republicans need to learn that you don't win elections by making people afraid. "" So -- are the Republicans needlessly rabble-rousing, or are the Democrats ignoring reality?

Yeah, the two major parties have to work off of fear. How else are they going to go against the interests of the average citizen as often as they do?

It's interesting that McCain keeps bringing up Illegal Immigration when that is considered by many Conservatives to be his weak point. McCain goes against the party line and it surprises me that he keeps bringing it up. Also I find it interesting that McCain and the GOP keeps bringing up 9/11 when it happened under the GOP and after being in office for 8 years their leader (Bush) has been unable to capture Bin laden...
Every party engages in the politics of fear to be fair. However there is little to be scared about now being that we have a Police State in operation. The only people we have to be scared about is our government. Oh well, nevermind just schizophrenic rantings lol...

It happens and it shouldn't. As for jobs, they come here, take crap jobs and work hard at them, that doesn't bother me. The only thing that does is they don't take the time to do it legally, we have processes for coming to this country and enjoying our freedoms, they need to be followed.

One is left deciding whether they should be afraid at all, or at least which fear is most legitimate to the average person. Cheers. |
