Default What is Wrong with T. Boone Pickens's Plan?

Any thoughts?
It seems fundamentally sound to me.
I just wondered what someone who knows more than I do about energy has to say about it!

My biggest problem with it is that I have a hard time believing that he is putting the interests of the nation before his own. He wouldn't be proposing any of this unless he stood to make a fortune off of it. Anything that is good for him is likely not very good for me. I'll have to look at it closer though.

The objective of free market capitalism is to make a profit through investment and innovation and in that process provide wealth for innovators and investors and at the same time provide necessities and or products and or services for others, that improve others lives, provide jobs, products and services for others. It’s the only viable sane economic process ever created.

Of course T. Boon Pickens intends to make a fortune for himself as he has in the oil industry. Of course what he intends to do provides a necessary product called energy to a wealthy nation that wishes to remain wealthy and who’s wealth depends on energy and a nation that surely needs to wean itself off of the extortion and multi-billions of $ outsourced to foreign nations for foreign energy that don’t particularly like anything about us except our money.

Capitalism is a scratch my back while I scratch yours process. It’s a quid-pro-quo. Thank God for the sanity and wealth of free market capitalism!

I've got no problem with him making a dime off this. That's the american way. Having more energy options can only be better for this country.

Now, about those @!#$ swiftboat ads

it's self serving

he wants to mobilize us to convince congress to underwrite his alternative energy activities

until he pays john kerry the $1 million bet that he has welched on, he remains a swiftboating POS

I agree with you about the Kerry thing. That was reprehensible and he hasn't been called out enough about it.

And I'm absolutely sure his motive is greed.

But somebody has to do something. We've got to get away from oil being our main source of energy. It has to happen yesterday.

I agree that we need alternatives, but I am hesitant to adopt them when they will serve mainly to make the rich richer rather than ease the burden on the working class. He is only seeking to extend his grasp and increase his wealth. I would rather support small business innovators and start-up companies with their plans.

This is one that I have been watching for about a year now. I for one like the way they think.

Pickens thinks that trade with other nations is bad.

He obviously doesn't understand economics.

And the basic problem with his plan is that it would cost everyone in the country more money than they are paying already.
