Default Hey Republicans - LET THE MARKET RULE!

Ha see where that got you?!

Now that your corporate buddies are going under, you rely upon the tax payer to bail them out?! WTF? And you don't want to pay any taxes!

Conundrum...

Government regulation should have been there. We have seen it now with S&L, Enron, and the housing market.

No, I don't believe we need BIG government, but we need some government regulations to stop these thieves before they screw over half of the American public - again and again!

I wonder how many times we have to bail out these profit-motivated unregulated thieves---

Now the corporate big shots are looking for the government to bail them out. That is after they raped their corporations with huge salaries and bonuses. They should have to bail out of this on their own. . The CEO’s and shareholders all should knock in a bit and do the bailout on their own. That should be the course for us to follow. I hear the righties now screaming "oh you can’t do that to a corporation." BS let them get out of their own mess.

I think risks were taken with the expectation that we would have to bail them out.

Now there is nothing we can do.

That's not free market. It's how private industry games government to screw us all. In a free market they would not have acted this way.

Also, democrats are to blame for this it seems.

Default I dont see how this is a right vs left thing

Their is plenty of blame to go around, and yes the CEO's and the other managers in fannie and freddie should go to jail. We send thieves to jail for much less. But lest we forget that this greed was aloud by the government who did not step in and tell them to stop loaning good money after bad. This is thievery on a scale that dwarfs the S&L debacle. Names such as Carl Icahn, T. Boone Pickens, and George Soros seem to once again be involved in the fleecing of Americans.

I don't know what to do since the government, both sides, seem to be in bed with these corporations, and some of these bad loan buy backs seem to have been ok'ed by senate finance commitee personell.

To blame the right is to be closed minded about the fact that their are no longer normal people in washington, just fat cat lawyers who know and are friends with the corporate raiders. Boards of most of these corportians read as a whos who in washington politics.

Until we stand up and say to hell with republicans and democrats and vote in a third party we will never be free of this coruption!!!

but yes, government control is needed. either in the form of aboliishing monopoly (if one bank stands to go bankrupt, then the consequences are not so grave) or to make key structures in the economy governmental.

This goes back a long way. Reagan's time began not only the decline of the middle class but the era when mindless economics ruled the republican ideologists. Consider SLA, Enron, and too much corruption to list and you truly realize conservatives cannot govern. When government is your enemy and greed is your friend and motivator, this is what the country gets in return.

A vote for McCain/Palin is a vote against the fundamental principle of America, the right of the individual to lead their life privately without the government interfering.

From what I have read , Fannie and Freddie were semi-privatized by Lyndon Johnson primarily to make the government balance sheet look better. Now they will be renationalized.

Will Lehman Brothers be the next bailout?
