Hawaii has mentioned it, so has Alaska, and the Pacific Northwest has had rumors of a Cascadia secession for a few years now. Maybe in spite of all of our technology we are still too big to be effectively governed by one person. Under our current system there will always be about half of our population feeling like they are not represented the way they want.

Wasn't there also a poll that said that 22% of Americans thought women shouldn't be allowed to vote? By the time you get down to around 20%, you're getting mostly nuts, I think.

But, what the heck. Cascadians unite! Southern Alaska, western Canada, western Washington, some of Oregon and northern California. Basically the whole Pacific Northwest. All your trees are belong to us. Don't mess with us, we'll sic the Sasquatch Militia on you.

Who put those nuts on the east coast in charge, anyway? It's time for west coast nuts to be in charge! Better coffee! Weirder movies! Plus we've got all the best nerds. A society run by west-coasters will have those jetpacks you've been promised.

I would definatley support it if my state wanted to secede.

Both an appeal to ridicule and an appeal to the majority. Most Americans can't even name a single supreme court justice. What's nuts is considering this majority to determine who the lawmakers are when they can't even name the first 10 amendments of the Constitution.
