I remember reading where Lysenko came down hard on what he called "Mendelianism", Gregor Mendel being the theorist who started us thinking about genetics (I seem to remember reading about his observations of sweet pea flowers, but I'm stretching the memory a bit now). So yes, your points make sense to me.
Again I read something that contrasted Darwin and Lamarck in the following terms, which illuminated the difference for me.
Giraffes. According to Lamarckism giraffes would have developed so that they could get to the leaves at the top of trees in the savannah. According to Darwinism (if I can use that word) giraffes could survive in the savannah because they had long necks and could eat the leaves at the top of trees.
