I understand where you're coming from. I came over from a forum that imploded suddenly and suffered quite a bit of cultural shock. There are many posts here and one would imagine posters that exist solely for shock value and flame baiting. It does get tiresome.
I would encourage you to stay a bit.
The posters from all sides of the political spectrum who would prefer to engage in name calling, insults and juvenile behavior get pretty easy to spot after a while.
I've found myself intellectually challenged at trying to stay true to my principles while at the same time fending off idiocy.

Plus, there are some truly decent people from all sides willing to engage in actual debate and exchange of ideas.

I have met a few interesting posters here and had more than a few conversations that went into some depth.

I've had the experience of being able to disagree with a posters POV but really like and enjoy the opponents mind. I like being able to look at an issue from many points of view.

I understand your frustration. It's not like I don't know what you're talking about.

But the truth is the whole climate for political discourse in America has been affected by tabloid journalism on tv.

Some posters only do drive by soundbites or snarky insults. Put them on ignore and take your time checking out the site.

Nobody is forcing anybody else to post in that thread. If bubba doesn't like that thread, he can ignore it.

Here there are moderators that actually make an effort to moderate, as well as a filter that eliminates 99% of the profanity.

While this website may not be "all that and a large order of fries", I've yet to experience an obscene animated .gif file posted as a response to a comment of mine - as I did elsewhere. There's a group of us that left another website and came here because of a lack of civility and moderation. IMHO - This website is one of the more civil I've seen - considering the volatile nature of the topic (politics) being discussed.

Report the posts you feel are personal attacks and/or offensive, and let the moderators do their jobs.
