This will take a few posts, but it's compelling policy.
The National Youth Rights Association has stated their support of a lower voting age, and has cited these ten reasons in favor of their position. http://www.youthrights.org/vote10.php Quote:

I don't think it would make a difference because the youth vote has always been notoriously absent on election days, and lowering it further will only mean that technically people under 18 can vote, but they don't.

The same is clearly true of the adult vote, considering that about half of adults don't vote either.
