Given that everywhere on earth, but especially in 'free' societies deception is profitable it:

- destroys the local culture
- teaches hatered towards others
- makes people lose trust in their neighbor
- turns people against each other
- creates unhealthy anger and pesimism
- destroys countries and millions of lives etc.

- I've seen this show on MSNBC where they caught a credit card criminal in Africa, and then they just let it go. what is the deal?
- We now all know that Saddam did not have WMD's and yet millions died since US invasion,
- Sniper fire Hillary is allowed to play political circus after lying, wtf?
- Bush and his partner dick who shot his friend in the face, I won't even go there;
- False mortgage lending where people are purposely deceived and yet banks are bailed out;
- US harassing Iran or Russia for what?

To the people who take US governments side, some are misinformed and some see profit in standing by their momma like a puppy by his master, I'm not talking to them, but those of you who feel you've been misinformed I want to say one thing if I may: Standing against a corrupt government does not necessarily mean standing for Russia or Iran or other countries you do not like. I think such deception as I mentioned should not be allowed, it can not possibly add good to our human race, and if you hate the human race (which is very likely you do if you support deception) then rest assured, human race is filled with haters just like you and in no time at all you will find yourself among the masses of haters.

Good post. Deception is everywhere, but the question is "Why?" do we see it more in "free" societies. The answer - because there are still those who seek control in these societies and the means they use is deception instead of straightforward control. As Goethe said: "None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free."

Unfortunately (or not) one of the major proposals that explains the evolution of human intelligence is the idea that we are as intelligent as we are because we first deceived other species and later, other members of the genus homo, and now we continue to deceive others of our species and even ourselves in refusing to live in the present.
