a) take control of people's own retirement. By controlling what people can do with their "saved" money, you can control them.
b) by giving them free housing, you get to control not only where they live, but how they live.
c)by taking over their health (medicare/medicaid) you control when they get care and how how they get care.
d) by taking over the entire banking community and mortgage community, you get to control all aspects of a country's financials.

After that, the sky is the limit!
