Here’s something all of us can do to make a difference. It will take very little of your time and you won’t have to get up out of your chair. There are three specific things that could really make an impact.
1. Copy and cut this piece and send it to the three e-mail addresses provided. Jim Lehrer with PBS will host the first presidential debate on 9/26. Tom Bokaw with NBC hosts the second on 10/7. Bob Schieffer with CBS hosts the final debate on 10/15. 2. Copy and cut this piece and send it to your own e-mail contacts asking them to do the same thing. 3. No e-mail address could be found, but the organizer of all presidential debates is the Commission On Presidential Debates. We can call them at (202) 872-1020 and express this concern. If you’re not comfortable making the phone call, at least forward the e-mails to the following addresses: PBS: http://www.pbs.org/ombudsman/feedback.html NBC: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6872152/ (This is the address to reach Tom Brokaw with Meet The Press.) CBS: http://www.cbsnews.com/ (This link takes you to CBSNews.com. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the “contact us” link with CBSNews.com There is evidence that during one of the presidential debates in 2004 that suggests George W. Bush had some form of electronic device under his coat that was capable of transmitting facts and answers to him. Here’s just one link to illustrate this point, but there are hundreds, perhaps thousands of other links that can be found with a Google search. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/10...less_coaching/ In 2008, during one of the Republican debates it’s likely that Mitt Romney and John McCain both engaged in this tactic. On youtube.com there were videos that showed both candidates having prompts whispered to them by someone off stage. The McCain video has now been pulled. However, here’s a link to a video that shows the mysterious bulge under Bush’s suit coat, and Mitt Romney having answers whispered to him. As preparation is made for the first presidential debate in 2008, it would seem appropriate to ask the candidates to submit to a brief electronic scan to determine if there is a presence of a transmitting-receiving device. If one of the candidates refuses to be scanned, then canceling the debate and explaining why to the viewers would be the appropriate course of action. If one of the candidates is scanned and a device is discovered, then after it’s removed, an opening announcement to the viewers about that development would be appropriate. Americans deserve to have fair elections. That includes being made aware of any attempt to cheat during a presidential debate. Since there is more than a little suspicion about previous attempts to cheat, doing nothing to insure a level playing field is not an option. We have a right to know if an individual seeking the presidency is a cheater. That’s as important as any of the expected answers to the questions posed to the candidates. I hope you’ll give this thought serious consideration. |

My apologies! I suppose I didn't go into enough detail for some to grasp the meaning.
The thread title indicates a way to make a difference. I seriously doubt whining to NBC & CBS about what Dubya did during a debate 4 friggin years ago is going to accomplish squat. But I suppose that is how the liberal mind works. Conservatives on the other hand will spend more time focusing on the upcoming election. Now before you start spouting off the Dem talking points of McCain being just a Bush 3rd term like good little peons at the feet of "The Messiah" I warn you, the GOP gang remember the policies of Jimmy Carter and your boy Obama wants to redux those. Feel free to ask questions! |

The title of this thread is tragically misleading.
I thought this was supposed to be a "serious" suggestion?
