Default parties...

Couldn't i just register as a Republican and then vote Democrat anyway?
Not in the primaries. Only registered voters can vote in their party's primary.

and, Spork, I'd say that Americans are more independent within the party system than are their peers in Europe...the party designation applies mainly to voting in the primaries, and nothing more.

However, I believe that a few years ago (40-50), people were more likely to vote a straight party ticket than they are today. Every year, we have more registered independents (no party affiiation) in the states.

Plus, I'm a BLUE DOG Democrat...very different from a Northeastern liberal Democrat.

Doncha just love facts? Cold, hard facts? I certainly do. Of course, being in Doobie mode, Jesus is just alright with me, but he didn't have much to do with how I voted.
Yes I do. But apparantly, liberals don't. That's why you will rarely see them using facts to back their argument. (Hence the whole "Bush stole the election again" ridiculousness that we are hearing now).

his support grew by 3 to 4 points among those attending seldom or never.
Catz, does this suggest that those who attend church seldom or never are athiest by default? If this is the suggestion it sounds fishy.

Default Yeah, that's a bit of hyperbole...

But, one can say, safely, that those who are likely to vote for religious reasons are also likely to have their butts in a pew come Sunday.

It is funny, but it get hard to know what is a joke and what isn't. Personally, I do not attend church regularly if at all, but I do believe in God. So just being clear.

"Yep, it was the atheist vote that really put Bush over the top in 2004."

If this is true, than I know there is no god.
