And that it doesn't come from living off of McD's or KFC's food. That you sell to those fat people who are shoving you down the surgery list. Irony is a cruel mistress, isn't she?).
Can't wait until you lose that bet. I have gastritis, which is an inflammation and swelling of the stomach lining. The lining of the stomach wears away and the acid in your stomach can give you a burning feeling. It makes me tired and sick so I am always feeling under the weather. Usually it is caused by an excessive consuption of alcohol (and I know you will jump all over this one) or eating a lot of spicy foods. I do neither. It can be caused by a food allergy, which is the most likely cause of my illness. It cannot be cured, or even managed, until I discover what it is that I am allergic to. That's why I want the allergy test I have mentioned.

I no longer drink any alcohol, and I very rarely eat spicy foods (never was a fan anyway) because both of those things will only make it worse.

Now please tell me that it's my fault I happen to be allergic/intolerent to certain foods, because I wasn't aware a food allergy was actually preventable.

Tough love doesnt have anything to do with ridiculing,.. it has everything to do with pushing the person your trying to help into accountability.

So many people try the tuff love approach without understanding how it works,.. they usualy vent their anger regarding the issue and wind up doing more harm than good.

I'm not going to say that screamming in someones face to get a grip or telling them to "look at yourself,.. are you stupid?" has never worked, because I have seen it,.. but its in a very structured situation, and done under watchful eyes with years of experience.

However,.. it is avoided pretty much at all cost because its a last ditch effort to reach people in denial. You never know how its going to turn out. But you never, can I put a little more attention on this,.. NEVER use it on sombody who is unstable or depressed!
Another point is that if you use such a tool, it is critical to have a supportive network under the person.

Having worked in gastroenterology for five years (as I said before) gastritis is pretty much a non-specific inflammation that could be caused by anything. It's not particularly serious and about 70% of people have it in one form or another, whether symptomatic or not. It's not really a single disease, but more of a word used to describe gastrointestinal symptoms that don't have a known cause.

Actually, it is NOT caused by alcohol consumption, but can be worsened by use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatories or the wrong types of foods.

It's usually treated with over-the-counter antacids.

It's very common and quite manageable.

I think that perhaps it has led to a secondary illness with you because there's no way that simple gastritis could cause the symptoms you are talking about.

Couldn't you then drastically change what it is you eat- say eliminate a type of food one at a time for however long to see if anything changes? Chesby is there a time range where you could expect the lining to repair?

The Chesboy is a triathlete. He actually gets in a really bad mood if he can't do some daily exercise (haha - he's in a bad mood all the time since we had our baby ). I used to be like that until I broke my foot and had to have surgery on it. I'd never been unfit a day in my life before then.
We live in N California about 150 miles North of SF. Its a small town of 45,000 We are 45 minutes from the coast. The ocean when calm enough to dive or fish is loaded with crabs abalone rockfish and urchins for my Japenesse and Greek friends. I stop and get wild mushrooms on the way home, the eating kind. lol
We also have a lake 5 minutes form our house and i can walk down to the river and catch Salmon and steelhead.
And this is a great town, we have it all from liberals to conseratives to a Buddist temple that is run and for Buddists from Tawain. It has a great private school where my kids go. They are tought by Tawainese buddist nuns and monks and learn chineese. All my kids are fluent. They love to go with me to the store and when they see a nun from the school they stop and start talking in Chineese to them. It floors the locals to see all american white red headed kids speaking Chineese. I mean stop stare mouth open response!!!! lmao.
And vineyards are then main industry. Really pretty place to live.

I am on medication for it. When I went to see the doctor for the results, he told me that it is usually caused by too much alcohol, and told me that this would be bad to drink as it may make it worse, so I have since quit drinking that.

If I was intolent to, say wheat, could that cause it? I'm not what I'm allergic to right now, could be a preservative and they are in just about everything. Hopefully it's something common.

Could the gastritis itself be the secondary illness caused by an allergy?

Sounds to me like it is also possible that it could be caused by deep seated neurosis causing a nervous condition.

sorry, I'm just a hateful person.

Well here is the way to be healthy. Wife wants to have some freinds over for a fresh crab dinner. So after a breakfast of whole wheat bagel with Fat free cream cheese and smoked salmon, salmon i caught last year and smoked for my breakfast, I am off to the ocean for a 3 to 3 hour dive to get 10 crabs. Apples and bananas on the way back.
I tell ya wives are so demanding, go dive and bring home dinner!!!!! lol ya its a rough life, she also demands after 20 years of housewife that she make the money and i take care of the kids!
