The fun thing about preaching to the choir is that you don't actually have to make any sense. That's a good thing, because this article falls on it's tail in the face of even cursory analysis.
We are left wondering which of those things no longer part of the Democratic party that the author misses so much. Support for institutionalized racism? Communist witch hunts and inquisitions? Hapless military adventurism? Fiscal irresponsibility?
One also wonders which particular shade of partisan goggles allows him to rationalize the inspired policies of the current administration and congressional leadership as remotely successful, as well as which particular conservative social initiatives he supports.
I don't find the baiting and criticism on the left much different or any nastier than that which we seen from the right for years. Which specific Democrats are reveling in the deaths of our troops? I keep hearing this, but I've never actually seen a word of it aside from perhaps the ravings of a few mindless kiddies on net forums. If that's what passes for justification for the authors comments, then I am able to justify any comment I should ever want to make. Unmoderated internet forums are like VD clinics and baseball games; you get the full slice of society, from evil kiddies and wackos to Aunt Marge from Duluth.
When compared the well mechanized roar of the conservative noise machine, the what comes from the other side fence is barely more than a whisper on any given day.
