But Toon' we already live in that world. The image of Galileo capitulating to the political-religious long knives of his time, admitting on pain of his life that "black" is actually "white" (observational evidence notwithstanding), is replayed every day. In our time it plays out in more insidious ways as when scientists scramble for grant funding and avoid areas of inquiry that have no chance of support unless conforming to the current political-religious view.
However, we should stand back and take in the wider horizon; that truth based on human logic applied to nature's phenomena takes a tortuous path. Mankind prospers in direct relationship to the extent that process is unencumbered by political-religious belief systems.
