The Bible does talk about "undeserved suffering." But ripping into the Bible does nothing to promote the belief in evolution. Come on. The Lord of the Rings? Why is there a non-fiction section in the library?

Actually they DO know that... they have found the crater and located the bacteria in a meteorite fragment... but keep on trying to "poke" the theory....
SO THEY FOUND A CRATER! Dude, any crater on Earth is going to have bacteria in it. That doesn't prove it is "alien bacteria" and that the bacteria started life on Earth. And, to state the obvious, there is no scientific consensus about there being life anywhere else.

They found this bacteria in a few craters and in none of the others... and these craters are some of the oldest left on the planets.... As to your "obvious" statement... Recently it has come to light that there is bacteria on Mars....

What exactly is it then that you believe decided to leave the ocean and become human? Please tell us.

They didn't... amphibians did and it was one day in the cambrian period.... or about 4:30 Eden time....

Default it has?

So when did these alarming alien life revelations come to light? I haven't heard anything. Then again, I don't keep tinfoil in my condo, so I may have missed out on some secret communication.

Oh so it was the amphibians...but wait - didn't they evolve from a fish or a whale or a mammal of some sort, you know kind of got cocky and sprouted some arms see...

But Mr. Spacebacteria will be here shortly, fear not, to explain how his unidentified scientific sources are pretty darn sure that there are indeed martian bacteria infecting our planet.

Default EXACTLY

“ Simply put, a person has to look past the stories of dieties and read between the lines....”

Exactly! That is precisely what I’ve been trying to say. Thank you. It just seems to me that looking at it this way precludes taking the whole thing literally.

Default yep

I thought that's what he was referring to. It is an old story and if I remember correctly, one that has alternate explanations...

First, let me say, read the posts in context. Second, how am I ripping the Bible or promoting a belief in evolution? Third, what does the existence of the non-fiction section in a library have to do with anything? You lost me.

Default A history of science

Originally the atkins diet was bad for you. It caused high cholesterol and kidney problems. Then a Duke study said differently and the diet became incredibly popular. Now some are saying again that it is unsafe.

In the last week of March 1997 the weather was in the 60's all week in Boston. The weather men called for more of the same in their prediction with the possibility of rain. On April 1 the largest snowstorm in Boston history hit with 42 inches over two days.

The dominant species on earth (dinosaurs) was suddenly wiped out. Scientists can offer no more than theory as to why.

Despite decades and billions of dollars spent, there is no cure for cancer or many other diseases.

"Piltdown man" is discovered, it takes 42 years before they discover it's a hoax (combo of a human skull and ape jaw).

"Lucy" was discovered over 30 years ago, yet scientists can not agree as to whether or not she is a direct ancestor of modern humans.

For over 100 years it is thought that American aboriginals resemble today's Native Americans. This theory came into question only 6-7 years ago.

Breast implants are deemed safe, then later discovered to cause cancer. Viagra is deemed safe, yet later discovered that it can kill those taking heart medication.

So in summary, knowing that scientists can't get it right when it comes to the weather, the atkins diet, dinosaurs or the effect of various medications we're just supposed to swallow whole heartedly the theory that man evolved from apes?

Also, if you swallow the scientist theories there are others to consider. Such as "Mitochondrial Eve" which was a theory published in the 1980's that all of human kind developed from one person in Africa 150,000 years ago. This theory was backed by another scientist in 2000 after conducting a study on Y chromosomes.
