You could not be further from the truth. Just the opposite is true in the South. The whites have turned over their city governments to the blacks in most cities in the south. In Memphis, our city council is majority black. We elected a black man mayor 16 yrs ago, in fact, he is still in office. Not because he is a good mayor, but because he has slowly, but surely driven whites out of the city. We have no term limits for the office of mayor. The black majority, and a few whites, continue to vote him in time and time again. He has taken a truly wonderful city that was on the way up and allowed violent crime to escalate to make our community #1 in violent crime in the nation...a great accomplishment. We call him "King Willie". Let me also direct your attention to Ray Naggin, the mayor of New Orleans, who did not lift a finger to help his people during Katrina, but nagged President Bush for not doing anything soon enough.
The South is definitely not where it was in the '60's, but we are tired of the oppression. We collectively did not vote for Obama, mainly because we don't want to see our capitalist society that encourages men & women to be all they can be changed into a socialist society that oppresses and discourages people from becoming what they can be...a very different situation. We also fear that Obama will be nothing more than a King Willie or Ray Naggin for the entire nation. Wake up...change is coming, and it won't be good. It is designed to make our nation into a dictatorship under a man we know virtually nothing about.
