Icon9 Tom Brokaw: Take That Bigots & Rednecks!

What a sad, sad commentary from what use to be a professional.

Yesterday, Tom Brokaw, Clin Powell, Joe Scarborough, & Mike Barnicle were discussing the Obama Inauguration on national TV. Of course, the typical cliches had to come out from the leftists about the South in general, bigots, and rednecks.

Here is what Tom Brokaw had to say on national TV:

Quote:
BROKAW: Comfortable in his own skin, to use that phrase, he had the self-confidence. It was not overbearing and could laugh at himself easily. He could hammer him and criticalof a quote. At one point he burst out laughing, I was in the middle of reading back one of these things. "Some people said nice things about me as well."

Listen, I just want to say one thing. Having been in the South in the '60s and Los Angeles, in Watts and northern urban areas, when we were evolving as a country, I'm thinking of all the bigots and rednecks and people I met along the way. I'm saying to them, "Take this." You know?

A few minutes earlier, Brokaw talked it over with Mike Barnicle and Gen. Colin Powell:

BROKAW, with a quavering voice: I get very emotional. It has been hard for me to walk through the streets. And I think that the day is going to be very emotional. I think that's good for the country. It’s a reminder again of who we are and our inherent strengths. And the inherent strengths are, is that this is an immigrant nation. We have come from all over the world to build this country and this society. And now we have the son of an immigrant as president, first generation. And the rule of law is the underpinning for it. And we’re always at our best when we are more than the sum of our parts.
Someone needs to tell Tom, this isnt the 1960s anymore. Its in fact, a whole notha century. But could he provide something other then the status quo liberal mantra of labeling the entire South racist?....lol. So much for professionalism anymore. In all this talk of unity coming from the left, along with hope and change, they sure do seem to be providing the exact opposite.

Then Barnicle Bill and Colon "Blow" Powell talk about how they have been crying for 2 weeks, after Tom Brokaw breaks down in tears. Give me a freakin break people. Why is Colin Powell crying? He was the 1st black Sec. of State, and he didnt garner all this lavish praise. Maybe b/c he was a Republican at the time? What about celebrating Condi Rice and her position as the 1st black Sec. of State?? No celebrations forthcoming? Oh, she was Republican too.

Sorry, I dont buy the emotional wreck bit coming from grown men.

http://newsbusters.org/blogs/tim-gra...ration-day-tak

Jesus age Christ fellas, grow a pair for crying outloud.

But thanks Tom, thanks for trying to make 2009, the 1960s again. The 2 are so comparable. If he hasnt been in the South since the 60s, what is that saying about him??? It screams of liberal elitism. I am glad to see that the old worn out labels are still in effect on the left. I guess swinging fists at phantoms will never grow old with them.

While your at it Tom, why dont you tell Rev. Joseph Lowery to quit being a bigot and a racist. "Take that! You know?"

Here Tom, from me and the rest of the South you just labeled racists:

This seems to imply more than just the south. And individuals at that, rather than any particular demographic.
And don't tell me you think "redneck" is synonymous with southerner. I happen to know we have more rednecks in my neck of the woods than in Atlanta... It's a lifestyle (for lack of a better word), not a geographic tribe.

Sounds to me like a bit of hypersensitivity.

Boy, aren't you the one trick pony today? One who has trouble reading too.

How does he particularly single out the south while also mentioning LA and the north? And, better question, why do you get so upset when people bring up the civil rights movement and how it's amazing that we now, in so short a time, have a black family in the Whitehouse? You really don't think that is stunningly historical? History books will very much disagree with you.

I think your frickin' brains going to explode if you don't take a deep breath and quit with the non-stop angry posting over nothing.

Guess what, Hat? The deep south voted against Obama in huge numbers. To them, it's still 1964. They refuse to move forward.
